Rumsfeld’s Award, Unrest in Egypt and Food Crises

by James Corbett
First Published: Feb. 14, 2011 – The Corbett Report

This is James Corbett of corbettreport.com with your Sunday Update for this 13th day of February, 2011.

Leading the news this week, war criminal Donald Rumsfeld was on hand at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C. to receive an award signifying his status as a Defender of the Constitution.

The honour was particularly baffling to observers who noted that in his time as Secretary of Defense under George W. Bush, Rumsfeld oversaw the unconstitutional imprisonment of American citizens without trial, the unconstitutional torture of detainees under American detainment at Abu Ghraib, the unconstitutional Information Operations Roadmap, which instructed US psyops personnel that American military propaganda could be used against the American population and the unconstitutional declaration of the Coast Guard as a branch of military under the newly-formed and unconstitutional Department of Homeland Security in 2003 with the unconstitutional authority to administer martial law on civilians.

The Organic Elite Surrenders to Monsanto

“The policy set for GE alfalfa will most likely guide policies for other GE crops as well. True coexistence is a must.”

— Whole Foods Market, Jan. 21, 2011

by Ronnie Cummins
Published: Jan. 28, 2011 – Counterpunch.org

In the wake of a 12-year battle to keep Monsanto’s Genetically Engineered (GE) crops from contaminating the nation’s 25,000 organic farms and ranches, America’s organic consumers and producers are facing betrayal. A self-appointed cabal of the Organic Elite, spearheaded by Whole Foods Market, Organic Valley, and Stonyfield Farm, has decided it’s time to surrender to Monsanto. Top executives from these companies have publicly admitted that they no longer oppose the mass commercialization of GE crops, such as Monsanto’s controversial Roundup Ready alfalfa, and are prepared to sit down and cut a deal for “coexistence” with Monsanto and USDA biotech cheerleader Tom Vilsack. Pathocracy: Tyranny at the Hand of Psychopaths

by Jack Mullen
Published: Jan. 25, 2011 – Activist Post

Were people consciously aware something was about to change in a very bad way just before Lenin and Trotsky appeared on the scene in Petrograd in the spring of 1917? Did the German people realize accepting the ‘hope’ of Hitler would result in something so hideous and evil that tens of millions of people would die and a permanent bloodstain would appear on the history of Germany?  What was life like months or years before the Armenians suffered genocide at the hands of the Turks, did they know that government imposed gun control was really disarmament before extermination?  How about the Chinese before the tyrant Mao, or the North Koreans before the Kim Jung il family infestation?  Did these people know what was coming, but didn’t know what they could do?

DOCUMENTARY – Nicaragua, a nation’s right to survive (1983) by John Pilger

John Pilger’s 1983 film about the small nation of Nicaragua and its right to survive investigates the corruption in Central America. In 1979, the Sandinistas won a popular revolution in Nicaragua, putting an end to decades of the corrupt US-backed Somoza dictatorship. They based their reformist ideology on that of the English Co-operative Movement, but was to prove too ‘radical’ for the Reagan administration.

In this film, Pilger describes the achievements of the Sandinistas and their “threat of a good example”.

War on Terror is a Fraud

by Prof. Akhbar Navees
Published: Nov. 30, 2010 – PakPotPourri

The US today is, temporarily, the world’s foremost power. It is a country whose people are blessed with wonderful qualities of the head and heart. They are honest, hardworking problem solvers, large-hearted, decent and deeply innocent. The emergence of the US as a power with the greatest ever reaches in human history is the result of a conscious and sustained effort on the part of Washington to make America a great power.

Central to this nation-building process was the key emphasis on cultivating and creating knowledge of nature, and of the high-level of integrity and commitment of the average American. However, the evolution of the US Public State, as a genuine democracy with the ability to unify mankind on a broad basis, has been derailed consistently, and perhaps irreversibly, by corporate cliques that have taken the US on the path of global conquest and exploitation of the poor but resource-rich countries. This path will eventually lead to USA’s defeat, beginning in Central Asia, and its rapid and bloody decline in a decade or two, unless, of course, the Americans can bring to book those criminal cabals which currently control, chain and exploit this great nation.

The Collapse of Western Morality

by Paul Craig Roberts
Published: Sep. 23, 2010 – Global Research

Yes, I know, as many readers will be quick to inform me, the West never had any morality. Nevertheless things have gotten worse.

In hopes that I will be permitted to make a point, permit me to acknowledge that the US dropped nuclear bombs on two Japanese cities, fire-bombed Tokyo, that Great Britain and the US fire-bombed Dresden and a number of other German cities, expending more destructive force, according to some historians, against the civilian German population than against the German armies, that President Grant and his Civil War war criminals, Generals Sherman and Sheridan, committed genocide against the Plains Indians, that the US today enables Israel’s genocidal policies against the Palestinians, policies that one Israeli official has compared to 19th century US genocidal policies against the American Indians, that the US in the new 21st century invaded Iraq and Afghanistan on contrived pretenses, murdering countless numbers of civilians, and that British prime minister Tony Blair lent the British army to his American masters, as did other NATO countries, all of whom find themselves committing war crimes under the Nuremberg standard in lands in which they have no national interests, but for which they receive an American pay check.

The failure of American capitalism: Forty-four million living in poverty in the US

by Patrick Martin
Published: Sep. 17, 2010 – WSWS

The number of people living in poverty in America rose to 43.6 million in 2009, the US Census Bureau reported Thursday. This is the largest number since the agency began making such estimates 50 years ago and represents an increase of 3.8 million compared to 2008.

As of last year, one in every seven Americans was poor, according to the government’s definition of poverty. The official poverty rate of 14.3 percent is the highest since 1994.

Collapsing America

by Linh Dinh
Published: Sep. 11, 2010 – Dissident Voice

All governments lie, kill and misuse public funds, but these calculated habits are amplified manifold during wars. We’re in two now, aiming for a third. Japan, whose land we’re still occupying 65 years after Hiroshima, has just announced sanctions against Iran beyond what the U.N. mandated. South Korea swiftly followed suit. It’s surprising to see these two countries so in sync, until one remembers that they have become American cheerleaders for decades. Rah, rah, bomb Tehran! A murderous chorus is rising, yet again. Countries that aren’t our client states can be counted with two hands, even those missing fingers from an exploding grenade.

America’s War Racketeers, the Real Terrorists

Is America’s racketeering ‘elite’ a terrorist organization

by Gordon Duff
Published: Sep. 08, 2010 – My Catbird Seat

There is a group of Americans, a combination of coward, gangster, politician, buffoonish soldier, con man and Israel obsessed bully. These are the “users” and “takers” who live their lives, some invisible, some media darlings, some famous heroes as portrayed by their friends in the media, their fellow thugs. This is the world’s greatest terrorist organization, the threat to, not only world security but the lives and freedom of the people of the world. These are the people who bleed America dry and have for generations, the people who have turned America into what the world clearly sees it as now, a weapon to be wielded against the common and decent people of the world on behalf of criminal terrorists.

Everyone has heard the story at one time or another. President Wilson was duped into setting up the Federal Reserve system. The term “Federal Reserve” is a lie. The Rothschild family and their predecessors that have controlled European currencies forever, since the 1600s and before, took over operation of America in 1913, printing our money and running the country through a series of banks that they control, and not all that “secretly.”

Is an International Financial Conspiracy Driving World Events?

“They make a desolation and call it peace.” -Tacitus

by Richard C. Cook
Published: Aug. 15, 2010 – Infowars

Was Alan Greenspan really as dumb as he looks in creating the late housing bubble that threatens to bring the entire Western debt-based economy crashing down?

Was something as easy to foresee as this really the trigger for a meltdown that could destroy the world’s financial system? Or was it done, perhaps, “accidentally on purpose”?

And if so, why?

Let’s turn to the U.S. personage that conspiracy theorists most often mention as being at the epicenter of whatever elite plan is reputed to exist. This would be David Rockefeller, the 92-year-old multibillionaire godfather of the world’s financial elite.

Is the United States a Dictatorship?

by Peter Eyre
Published: Jul. 28, 2010 – Peter Eyre’s Space

Unfortunately for some decades now the past Presidents and key members of the US Government have been on one continuous war footing. They have embarked on an extremely aggressive foreign policy and taken over the role of policing the world in place of the United Nations. It is clearly evident that as far as the United States is concern you had better “Do as I say or else.”

Bernanke must print 40 Trillions now, 100 Trillion next year, 200, 500, 1000…

First Published: Jul. 16, 2010 – National Journal

Game is over. In 2009 US-debt (55 Trillion Dollars) matched with GWP (Gross World Product, 58 Trillion). It is incomprehensible but true: America’s total money supply (M3) is around $15 trillion while the US national and private debt total around $55 trillion. How is America paying an existing $55 trillion in debt with a total of $15 trillion money supply? The US is short $40 trillion only this year. Where will that money come from?

Funding Corruption and Waste in Afghanistan

by Rep. Ron Paul
Published: Jul. 13, 2010 – Antiwar.com

Last week, GOP chairman Michael Steele came under fire for daring to say what a lot of Americans already know – that our involvement in Afghanistan is an ill-advised quagmire with no end in sight. After nearly 10 years and approaching $1 trillion spent, the conflict is going nowhere because there is nowhere for it to go. After all, if victory is never really defined, defeat is inevitable.

The Declining Value Of Work

by Michael Snyder
Published: May. 18, 2010 – The Economic Collapse

One of the great joys that men in free societies have long enjoyed is the ability to earn an honest wage for an honest day of work.  In particular, the amazing capitalist engine that powered the U.S. economy for decade after decade greatly rewarded the incredible hard work and industriousness of the American people.  America was known as the land of opportunity, and we built the largest middle class in the history of the world by working incredibly hard.  But today, all of that is fundamentally changing.  Thanks to rapid advances in technology, and thanks to the globalization of the work force, the labor of American workers is rapidly losing value.  Automation, robotics and computers have made many jobs obsolete.  Today one man can do the work that a hundred men used to do.  Not only that, but today American workers literally have to compete against workers from all over the globe.  Global corporations often find themselves having to choose whether to build a factory in the United States or in the third world.  But in the third world workers often earn less than 10% of what American workers earn, corporations are often not required to provide any benefits to workers, and there are usually hardly any oppressive government regulations.  How can American workers compete against that?

The truth is that labor is now a global commodity.  How can an American worker compete against a desperate, half-starving worker in the third world that will work like mad for a dollar an hour?

British Petroleum’s oil spill is latest crime in a criminal history

BP reaps huge profits from its global plunder

by Mazda Majidi
Published: May. 08, 2010 – Uruknet.info

On April 20, an oil rig operated by oil giant British Petroleum exploded, killing 11 workers. In the immediate aftermath of the explosion, BP announced that there was no leak from the destroyed rig. The U.S. Coast Guard validated this claim. BP contended that, in any case, a possible leak would be small, easily contained and not likely to reach land.

But in subsequent days, evidence of a massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico emerged, forcing BP and the U.S. government to acknowledge the catastrophe, while minimizing it as much as possible.

It is impossible to predict the level of environmental destruction and the devastation of workers’ lives along the Gulf Coast. In fact, even the amount of oil that has already been leaked—and the leak continues unabated—is difficult to establish, given that the main sources of estimates of the volume of the oil leak are BP and the U.S. government, hardly objective sources of information.

AFRICOM and the Recolonization of Africa

The Legacy of the Berlin Conference of 1884

by Itai Muchena
First Published: Apr. 07, 2010 – The Herald (Zimbabwe)

The hodgepodge of geometric boundaries that today divide Africa into 50 plus irregular nations under Eurocentric subjugation all started in Berlin, Germany on November 15, 1884.

The infamous Berlin Conference still remains Africa’s greatest undoing in more ways than one, where colonial powers superimposed their domains on the African continent and tore apart the social, political and economic fabric that held the continent together.

By the time independence returned to Africa between 1956 and 1994, the African realm had acquired a colonial legacy of political fragmentation that could neither be eliminated nor made to operate wholly independent from the former colonial masters.

Your Tax Dollars at War: More Than 53% of Your Tax Payment Goes to the Military

by Dave Lindorff
Published: Apr. 13, 2010 – Information Clearing House

If you’re like me, now that we’re in the week that federal income taxes are due, you are finally starting to collect your records and prepare for the ordeal. Either way, whether you are a procrastinator like me, or have already finished and know how much you have paid to the government, it is a good time to stop and consider how much of your money goes to pay for our bloated and largely useless and pointless military.

The budget for the 2011 fiscal year, which has to be voted by Congress by this Oct. 1, looks to be about $3 trillion, not counting the funds collected for Social Security (since the Vietnam War, the government has included the Social Security Trust Fund in the budget as a way to make the cost of America’s imperial military adventures seem smaller in comparison to the total cost of government). Meanwhile, the military share of the budget works out to about $1.6 trillion.

The “Gestapo” Revives: Mind Control In US and EU

by Anders
Published: Mar. 29, 2010 – Euro-med.dk

Summary: A U.S. congressman has had a slip of tongue about Obama’s new health legislation, saying it has taken many years and will still take some time to get the necessary legislation through in order to control people. Behind this is that this legislation requires the implantation of a chip with information abouti.a. individual medical data, to be implanted in everybody, thus enabling the regime to control and influence every one. Obama has recruited 16,500 armed officers to ensure that each rule is observed. Now the Europol has become an EU agency and has been given enlarged and vaguely defined remit to go after heavy internet crimes such as racism, xenophobia, criticism of the EU’s false claims about global warming caused by anthropogenic CO2 emissions. The Europol will take note of people’s behavioural data, including lifestyles and routines, movements, places visited, tax positions, DNA, political, religious or philosophical beliefs, union memberships and data concerning health or sex life. “This reminds creepily about the Gestapo. Nottingham, England, has just undergone a massive police raid on youngsters aged 13-24 years – with nude scanners, etc. to combat knife criminality. British researchers have now developed the nearly perfect lie detector that can read brain currents and thereby study people’s memories – having us all arrested for precrimes not committed. Politicians have explicitly wanted mass immigration to “radically change our societies.” They have certainly done so – and achieved what they wanted: an excuse for a European police state after Gestapo´s pattern.
