PESHAWAR: Security forces killed 34 more Taliban militants in the ongoing operation in the troubled Swat and Dir Upper districts, while seven others were arrested, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
Security forces continued action against the Maulana Fazlullah-led militants in Kabal area of the Swat Valley. The militants are still offering some resistance in the area.On Thursday, according to the ISPR, security forces secured the area around Bridge-II, Kabal and Kotlai. The militants and security forces clashed in these areas. During the gunfight, the ISPR said, 12 militants were killed while five soldiers suffered injuries.
Fighting in Kabal has forced thousands of people to move out of the area. Majority of them have gone to camps set up for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Mardan, Swabi and Nowshera.
However, the displaced persons were still complaining of being denied registration at the camps and forced to run from pillar to post to get relief. The ISPR, however, said that a new camp for the IDPs with a name of ‘FAMILO’ is being established at Jalozai to accommodate more displaced persons.
